Vestry

The Vestry is an elected group of lay members who serve as the legal representative of the parish, and work with the Rector to guide and oversee Saint Mark’s mission.  Any member in good standing, who is age eighteen or older, may be elected to the Vestry. Saint Mark’s elects six Vestry members, each for a two year term, who are elected at the annual parish meeting.

The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.

The presiding office of the Vestry is the Rector. The Senior Warden is a support person for the Rector, and when the parish is between Rectors, leads the parish. The Junior Warden is responsible for parish property and buildings. The Registrar is the  Vestry secretary. The Treasurer is responsible for recording the financial affairs of the parish.

Leadership is a gift from God, open to all, as with the Episcopal Church, Saint Mark’s welcomes and affirms everyone.
